Apple iPod Touch Reviews
These are some of the recent customer reviews of the of the Apple iPod Touch that have been submitted by customers to Amazon.
This summary taken from a very long review written in September 2008.
Summary:
The 2nd generation iPod Touch is an almost perfect device. It combines top-notch video/audio, world-class UI, great casual gaming, hundreds of apps, and full access to the Internet into a single, beautiful package.
To sum it up neatly: Untouchable. Well -- almost. It has one big flaw if you have invested in accessories: it may not be compatible with them, as Apple has changed the iPod connector pin-out (again). With those reservations, I recommend the Touch to anyone. Also great: owners of the 1st gen Touch can get most of these goodies with a simple, inexpensive software upgrade.

5.0 out of 5 stars - So much better than I expected ... And I expected a lot, February 11, 2009
I really think apple has missed the mark advertising the iPod touch mainly as a game machine . The apps are extraordinarily useful ... I'm very glad I decided ( at the last minute ) to get the 32gb model. I'm not using the iPod portion that much --some music and podcasts, but the add on apps have been very VERY useful. The screen is gorgeous , the keypad easy to use. If I had to quibble I'd say my biggest gripe is that flash and shockwave don't work yet. I know why apple has done that, but it's inconvenient. Youtube videos are fine. Battery life okay if you aren't on the internet the whole time -- i am, so it gets about five or six hours. Wifi reception has been excellent. Built in speaker is tinny and not loud enough, but i rarely use it so i didn't take off for that. There's an app to share files with your computer wirelessly, which is handy for transferring stuff via webdav connection to read later when you have no connection. Another app lets you capture articles from news and web sources to revisit later. There's even an app to make voip calls from the touch.(you have to add earphones with a mic -- picked up a pair on amazon for $7 and now make occasional calls via Internet. there have been a few times that I REALLY missed not being able to connect when away from wifi, but I do not miss the 2 yr contract to at&t. if you have wireless handy and don't need a full service phone contract this is the answer. Love it!

This is a fun and wonderfully handy product--like an Iphone but with no high monthly fee. Amazon's price was the best we found on line and locally

What can I say that has not already been said? I am trying to experiment with software to make phone calls using broadband wireless, and the new headphone for the Touch 2G, with a built in microphone.
Very expensive, but the price seems to get smaller in your mind the more you use it.....?....

After using my iPod Touch 2G 32GB for almost a week now, I would equate its versatility with that of a Leatherman multi-tool. It is smooth, elegant, and well constructed, and it soon becomes one of those indispensable pieces that you just can't leave home without.
I won't go into too much detail, as there are already some great reviews on here, but the following is a list of roles that my iPod Touch plays on a regular basis:
-Web Browser
-Email
-PDA
-Contact List
-Atlas
-Weather Station
-Calculator
-Note Pad
-Bible
-To Do List
-Clock
-Arcade
-Flashlight
-Level
-Unit Converter
-Music Player
-Photo Viewer
-Movie Viewer
[And I'm not done downloading apps!]
The user interface is simple and easy to use, and using the touch screen quickly becomes second nature. I considered a more 'business-like' PDA (like a Palm, Dell, or HP), but wanted a bit more 'fun-factor' than any of those options could provide. The iPod Touch seems to be the perfect fit for me.

This product was the best purchase I have ever made. No need to buy a larger version.

My wife and I bought this iPod for my mother on her 79th birthday. She wanted an iPhone, but we thought (after some research) that the device was more than she would actually use, especially considering the expensive calling plan.
After some discussion and still more research, I realized that my mother might get what she wanted (Internet access from her bed, a poker game, and streaming Pandora) from the iPod Touch. Well, we were right. My mother has said several times now that it is the best present she has ever gotten, and that she uses it everyday.
One caveat, my mother did have to buy a wireless router for her Internet services, but don't let that scare you away, they're not very expensive and easy to setup (if you follow the brief directions). Now I'm thinking seriously of getting one for myself--and I already have two other iPods!
